Challenge

In recent years, the Ministry of Education (MOE) has been promoting digital learning, aiming to transform schools into "smart learning classrooms". Consequently, many elementary schools, high schools, colleges, and universities have purchased IFPs (Interactive Flat Panel) through government subsidies in response to the “Government Foresight Program - Creation of Digital Campuses” policy.

.
During the process of achieving digitization, schools are often concerned that the problem of equipment installation and shipping will affect classes. Fortunately, installing the IFP is fairly simple, all we need is to set up the stand and attach the IFP to the stand. The entire process takes only five seconds tops, so the school does not have to worry about the installation and shipping.

Solution

Optoma has provided the IFP 52+ series to address the needs of Yi Ming Senior High School, thereby making three changes to the school’s teaching method:

  1. Teaching transformation

By applying subsidies from the MOE, schools can transform conventional classrooms into “smart learning classrooms”. Previously, classes were conducted using blackboards and projectors, but with the Optoma IFP’s built-in Whiteboard, the teachers’ writing boards can be extended infinitely, facilitating functions such as taking notes, writing, or drawing and improving teaching efficiency.

.
2. Teaching equipment digitization

The digital application of IFP facilitates the digital transformation of conventional teaching models. For instance, IFP supports the importing of a wide range of digital files, allowing teachers to effortlessly import teaching files from flash drives or cloud storage. IFP also offers a plethora of teaching templates to diversify teaching materials. At the end of the class, the teaching screen can be converted into a QR code for students to review in their spare time, in turn enhancing the efficiency of teachers and students in the class and improving teaching quality.

.
3. Innovative teaching

The government’s digital learning refinement program is supported by the digital device used by students to perfectly integrate the smart classroom with the interactive teaching approach. In practice, IFP not only serves as a screen for teachers while teaching, but students and teachers can perform wireless projection through Optoma’s Display Share app, allowing students to engage in collaborative discussions on tablets and project group discussion results, thereby achieving collaborative writing from different locations, fostering interactive learning among students, and attaining the benefit of combining smart classrooms with interactive teaching.

.

In addition, the school’s equipment manager can carry out functions such as remote monitoring, scheduled updates, releasing announcements, and powering on/off multiple IFPs through the Optoma Management Suite (OMS), in turn making management more convenient.

Achievement

Most teachers are accustomed to the traditional teaching method of writing on blackboards and have not used digital teaching equipment before. Consequently, Optoma provided teachers with two training sessions to let them observe, operate the equipment, and ask questions.

During the training process, teachers from the information department can easily import circuit diagrams from smartphones or other devices into IFP to teach students without wasting time drawing the diagrams. Also, IFP can reduce chalk dust’s threat to teacher’s health and overcome chalk’s color limitations.

In addition, IFP’s built-in Whiteboard features AI handwriting recognition to convert handwritten formulas and words into computer texts with the touch of a button. Overall, Yi Ming Senior High School has successfully materialized digital transformation through IFP. As a result, teachers and students both benefit from the improved teaching quality.
